Internship Opportunities and Your Job Each student is assigned a job from a pool of potential jobs submitted by members of the Fermilab scientific and engineering staff. Each job has specific, concrete goals. Some of the jobs are software-intensive, others deal with real mechanical or electrical equipment. Each supervisor is made aware that this is intended to be an educational experience for the student, so they should expect to do a bit of teaching along the way. Furthermore, the program includes lunch-time lectures by scientists at the lab, ranging from "The Standard Model" and "An Introduction to Particle Accelerators" and many things in between.
